Using the Topical Notes Editor
Set Keyboard Mapping (if desired)
Use the "Virtual keyboard" drop-down menu to select a new keyboard.
Use the "My keyboard" drop-down menu to specify your physical keyboard.
Then, use the "Map my keyboard" checkbox or press the F2 key to switch between
your physical keyboard and the virtual keyboard.
Add Comments (if desired)
With cursor in gold-colored comments area,
type any information that will help you identify the purpose and/or source of the
contents of this file.
Set Flow
Your file will have a predominant text flow, either left-to-right or right-to-left.
Click on the appropriate icon to set this for your topical notes.
Set Font
To change the size of the font, click on the red pencil button.
The available sizes are small, medium, and large.
To make the font bold, click on the lower, heavier,"o".
To turn off the bold font, click on the upper, lighter, "o".
Add a New Topic
The topical notes file initially has a large topic square present.
Type your first topic next to it.
To add a second topic, either click the "New topic" button
or press control-enter (or control-return)on the keyboard.
Add a Note
To add a note, press the enter (or return) key
when the caret is at the end of the text for a topic or another note.
Delete Text, Note, Topic
To delete text, use the backspace or delete keys.
To delete a note, first delete all of the text for the note, and then press the backspace key.
To delete a topic, first delete all of the text for that topic, and then press the backspace key.
Save Work and Exit
To save your work, use the mouse to click on [ok].
Your file will be saved at in your account at the newSLATE web site, and the screen will return to the home screen.
To exit the topical notes editor without saving your work, click on [X] or the home icon.
