Through a special web page link, newSLATE 1.2 is delivered to your desktop, eliminating the time spent downloading each function as it is called into use. And, as a desktop application, the newSLATE 1.2 screen is now resizable, allowing the user to choose the most comfortable viewing area.
Java Web Start is a Sun Microsystems technology for web delivery of Java desktop applications. It is now included as part of the free Java 1.4.1 download from http://java.sun.com/getjava/index.html. Java Web Start will allow future releases of newSLATE to integrate more fully with other desktop application software, while maintaining the ease of access and update from a web page.
