The alef-bet access area includes basic files for reinforcing a student's recognition of the shapes and sounds of the Hebrew letters and vowels. If you are learning the alef-bet, we recommend that you copy the files that interest you into your newSLATE account, and then create several smaller files that focus on just those letters and vowels that you are mastering at any one time.
Among the available files, you will find a file of Hebrew names with easily recognizable English equivalents, a file of English words that have been borrowed from Hebrew, and a file of Hebrew words that have been borrowed from English. Take quizzes with these files to help you transition from just knowing the letters to recognizing entire words.
To use these files, log into newSLATE by clicking on the "click to enter" graphic at the top left of any regular newSLATE web page. Then,
